February 23 - The Adventure Begins

Our African adventure began today. The last week has been quite stressful. We worked on getting everything out of the house, minor long overdue home repairs until late Saturday night before checking into the Lamplighter Inn to work on our talks for Sunday church. Up early Sunday to clean up, polish our talks and head for church for our farewell talks. After church there was a short potluck and a last chance to say goodbye to those we love so much. Then a dash back to the hotel to grab our bags and head to the house for final sorting, cleaning and yes, packing.  Finished the plastering, painting, caulking, sorting, etc. and finally dropped our one remaining vehicle off at a friend's barn for storage. A little after 8 Sunday night Eileen and I hopped in our daughters’ van for the 2 hour drive to Tulsa with all our stuff and it is a lot. Got to Tulsa about 10:30 pm; got up at 5:30 am to readjust some stuff. Arrived at airport and just made our 9:30 flight to Denver. Walked a million miles in Denver just to get to next gate. Found out we had First Class tickets with seats 1A and 1B. So this time we were the cool ones sipping a free drink (Cranapple) and eating a snack while all the lowly coach passengers boarded. Discovered that flying First Class is definitely better than flying coach. Arrived Salt Lake and all bags arrived as well. Got picked up and went to lunch. Now we are at our son Burt's house and are completely exhausted. So will say goodnight. It’s good to have good kids who support their parents in this mission effort. We would not have made in time but for them.  followthefergusonsinafrica.blogspot.com

Thanks to our great friends we had a chance to stay a little longer at church our last Sunday, share a meal and a few slides about our mission.
We loved our special day! Thanks for the Cake!!

Compare the size of our mission to all the countries in Europe
